Blair to become a “spammer”

with one comment

1.5 million people can be wrong!

In the strongest indication yet that the Prime Minister’s e-petition system on 10 Downing Street’s website is to be used as an email “spamming” operation, the Prime Minister Tony Blair has posted an article about the petition against vehicle tracking and road pricing. Tony, (the straight guy) makes plain that he disagrees with the sentiments of the petition and then sets out to explain how the government will “engage” with the 1.5 million who have signed it. They have our email addresses now and shamelessly are about to start using them – the sinister remarks are contained near the end of his article:

” So we should welcome debate and use every channel to engage with it. In doing so we should also consider the implications for institutions that were established before the advent of the internet.”

So that’s it then, campaign for our vote through our in-boxes! He continues:

“Over the next few days, I will be sending out a response to everyone who has signed the petition against road charging, explaining the problems the country faces and why I believe road charging is surely part of the answer here as it is in many other countries.”

Well, we should all have been aware of what to expect, it stated on the website that they might try and send two emails per petition, so if you haven’t got an email spam filter I suggest you download a free one now, or use Mozilla Thunderbird as your email client.
