More Big Brother nonsense

Up to 5.9 million schoolchildren face being fingerprinted

Up to 5.9million children face having their fingerprints taken by schools in another move towards Blair’s ‘Big Brother’ society.

How many of us read stories like these and then nonchalently return to the humdrum of everyday life? When are we going to wake up and stop this nonsense of collecting biometric details, until we are all recorded, barcoded, chipped, and enslaved to the nation state? Years ago, another European state with a similarly huge bureaucracy had a fascination for recording everyone’s details, not being as technologically advanced as we are now, they did it all on paper, but just to make sure they knew who everyone was, some of their citizens were made to wear coloured strips of cloth on their coats, or a yellow star. Identity was a bit of an issue to them you see.

Yet in the next century we blindly follow our leaders as they set about building one of the world’s biggest databases filled with our identities, they even soften up our children by collecting fingerprints at school and scan them when the poor children want a meal or a library book! Thankfully, these follies do not occur in South Tyneside.

People, what sort of society do you want to be living in? Do you enjoy your freedoms and liberty? Do you wish to be able to make decisions on your own? Do you wish to be responsible for the prosperity of yourself and your family? Do wish to be responsible for your own actions under the rule of law? Do you wish to be an individual or just a number on the database?

Phil Booth, of the NO2ID campaign, said: “This is an abrogation of moral duty. Schools should be teaching children to look after their biometric information.

“They are going to grow up in a world where keeping it secure is enormously important, yet they are being taught that it is OK to hand it over for the most trivial of matters. It is a disgrace.”

He added the Government could ultimately seek access to huge amounts of sensitive information by the ‘back door’.

The article states that when children leave school, their biometric details will be destroyed. Yeah, pull the other one! After spending millions of pounds on computer hardware for our schools can you see anyone allowing them to physically smash up the hard drives? That’s the only way to destroy the information.

  1. Yes, Curly. When will the British public start to wake up to the gradual chipping away of our civil liberties?

George Orwell’s timing may not have been cock-on, but I fear he may soon be proven to have only been a few decades out!
