OH NO! Disaster for Sunderland.

Quinn lunches with Shepherd – twice!

Sunderland found a banana skin yesterday in the form of Colchester United. They were beaten 3 – 1 by the U’s who were watched by the “Jarra Arra”, Steve Cram (a big Black Cats fan.) The result leaves Roy Keane’s men looking for six points from their final two games in order to have a chance of claiming the title, and much will depend upon the result of today’s midland’s derby game between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City. A win for the Blues will leave Sunderland looking for extra goals in the final two games (Burnley visit the Stadium of Light on Friday evening and the Black Cats travel to Luton the following Saturday.)

Meanwhile, Steve Brown of the Sunday Sun reports that Sunderland Chairman Niall Quinn has recently lunched with his “Dark Side” counterpart Freddy Shepherd in a bid to end hostilities between the two rivals. Quinn confesses it would be great for both North-East teams to be challenging near the top of the Premiership next season, and promoting the region.

It’s stories like this that make you so proud of North-East journalists, it’s so good, he told it twice!
