15m. records lost!
HM Revenue and Customs lose confidential records discs
The BBC are reporting that HM Revenues and Customs have “lost” confidential computer discs containing private details concerning 15 million child benefit recipients. Chancellor Darling will be making a statement at 3.30 p.m., you can bet it won’t be a resignation speech!
This incompetent crew still want us to have ID cards – witless bunch.
Update
The numbers are now 25m., details including names, addresses, NI numbers, bank account details, children’s names etc. The competence of this government is clearly in shreds, poor Paul Gray takes the wrap on behalf of the Bruins.
They have no shame at all!

(Don’t even start to believe that ID cards will make you feel more secure)

The main justification for compulsory ID cards, along with that unproven guff about fighting terrorism, is that the innocent have nothing to hide. Try telling that to an identity fraudster.

It would appear I am already betting with this government.
At risk:
1) The contents of my bank account.
2) £1000 that Alistair Darling has lent to the Labour Party leaning think tank supporting, based in Labour constituencies Northern Rock.

Labour leaning? Hardly, when Matt Ridley was in charge. Ironic that a man who spent much of his working life arguing against state intervention should, at the first sign of serious trouble, rush to the state to bail him out…
Isn’t it supposed to be ‘Loony Lefties’ that smell conspiracy theories everywhere?

Don’t worry about these records. I have it on good faith that they were stored with 18 ballot boxes in a corridor and………err,…………on second thoughts, perhaps we should worry!
