The new job
Just didn’t suit me
For the first time in my life I have walked away from a job, the expectations that I had were far too optimistic and I knew by this morning that my time there would be desperately unhappy and non productive. Could I really see myself sat on my backside eight hours a day talking to faceless people through a headset who don’t know an ethernet socket from a firewire port?
No, I need the face to face contact, full human interaction, some mobility and physical activity. It wasn’t a tough decision to take, I’d pondered on it for the past 24 hours and I know I’ve done the right thing. There are others there who are around my age, but they seem to have call centre experience and are attuned to that environment, there are many younger folk there too, some of whom I’ve know in past employment, I wish them luck when their world shrinks down to the size of their desktops!
So it’s back to being a young pensioner again for now.

Hey, Curly. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.
Their loss is South Tyneside’s gain, at least now you have more time to keep an eye on all of us!

My daughter did call centre stuff for a few months too. good pay but she didn’t like it either. You should talk to wong-she had a horrific time in her call centre job and I am pretty sure she will understand your move 100%
There will be something else out there that will suit you better.

Know how you feel Curly. I worked from home as an AA call handler. It was like groundhog day !!!
