Winding down
The hills, the fresh air, the water, and the Lakes are beckoning, the sun that sets in the west is dragging me across there with the force of a huge electro magnetic coil. A sojourn to England’s wettest micro climate to understand the dreams of the poets awaits me.
So unless anything dramatic happens overnight, such as Labour hanging on to Crewe and Nantwich, or Cllr, McAtominey handing in a couple of resignation letters, I’ll bid you all a temporary farewell and hope that your Bank Holiday weekend is enjoyable.
I’m planning to resume here on Wednesday.

Have fun. If you get a chance, drop into the Village Bakery in Melmerby. Lush bread and cakes.

Your kids would love the adventure playground at Brockhole (run by the Lake District National Park) between Ambleside and Windermere. The house and gardens are worth a look too. The house has a smashing tea shop with fantastic views of Lake Windermere.
For yourself in Ambleside their is the football museum and when I last visited they had a very large photo of Sunderland supporters in the Fulwell End circa 1997.
Also around Ambleside is a lovely walk up by Stock Ghyll Waterfall then past the gorge to where the land flattens out. Turn around and then look in amazement at the Langdale Peaks in the background. We (me, my then 5 year old and our then 11 year old Cavalier Spaniel) found this walk reletively easy but very enjoyable.
Have a nice break!
