I have no internet connection today and I’m letting you know this from elsewhere, hoping that things will be repaired shortly. Luckily my research assistant (The Monkey/Whip) will be able to keep you amused until I am back.

Hurrah, I’m back online and it was not my ISP to blame. The problem was caused by Microsoft’s automatic updates which I installed first thing this morning. KB 951748 creates a conflict with Zonelabs Zone Alarm firewall, professional and free editions, I suggest either removing the update via the control panel (add/remove programmes) or set the internet security status of the Zone Alarm firewall to medium until such time as Microsoft get a patch sent out. Otherwise Zonealarm refuses to see the new set of installed files and won’t allow connection to the outside world.
