Freedom for Waggott
Former Council Leader to be honoured
Mr. Paul Waggott is to be honoured by having the Freedom of the Borough bestowed upon him at an Extraordinary Meeting of South Tyneside Council next Thursday. Waggott soundly beaten by Independent Geraldine White at the May elections in Fellgate and Hedworth is to be recognised for his “achievements” in leading the Council over the past ten years.
There I was thinking that the nice little fella was always no more than a titular figure head, there to entertain everyone , whilst the vision, leadership, ambition, and planning were carried out by his Deputy Leader Iain Malcolm. Perhaps I got the wrong impression!
Suppose the motion doesn’t get a two thirds majority – then what? (Would anyone be wild enough to oppose the motion?)
