Some pictures retrieved
Well yesterday evening consisted of sitting and waiting for over two hours whilst Recover My Files scanned through the system to find anything which hadn’t been overwritten. I have managed to retrieve a number of .jpg picture files but many of them were the low resolution files I had used for my websites, some of the higher resolution originals had been overwritten and were no longer viable, fortunately many of the .pef Raw files were retrieved and I can make new .jpgs from them, so all is not lost.
The music is not too much of a problem, CDs can be ripped again, it’s just a matter of finding the time, but some pictures have been lost forever just as I was about to burn them on to discs. I’m at a loss to understand why uninstalling a programme and replacing it with another should reesult in such a catastrophic loss.
It would have to happen during the holiday period when we parents have less time on our hands!

Hi
Glad you got some of it back. It happens to most of us! I had a similar disaster about four years ago - don’t anyone tell you that Macs don’t behave like that, they do. Mine did and I lost about a quarter of my data. Since then I have been rather more methodical about back up!

Oh well thanks for that, I managed to recover the data myself with software that can be legally downloaded for free.
