Bob burned to death

with one comment

Ireland’s masterful and artistic use of CCTV

Tim Ireland at Bloggerheads has made a remarkable little film which he has put up on YouTube giving us all an insight to what it must be like to be burned to death in a fire. Having made a “Guy” for Guy Fawkes Night  utilising a cheap CCTV camera picked up at a jumble sale to make the “guy’s” head. Tim named his Guy “Bob” and took it along to his local community bonfire and fireworks party near Guildford where the CCTV camera was linked wirelessly to a laptop to record how the event was seen through “Bob’s” eyes.

Set to the song “You’ll never walk alone” the remarkable footage shows the flames licking around “Bob’s” head before he finally expires. This is how it must have looked and felt to all those witches and prelates who we burned at the stake way back when, perhaps Archbishop Cranmer might like to take a look to remind himself of that terrible day.

I’ve never agreed with Tim’s politics or the way that he sometimes pursues an interest with other bloggers but I’ve often shared some of his libertarian views and actions, and one has to have a sneaking admiration for some of his more imaginative creations which have popped up on the internet here and there.

This is a masterpiece of a video, and a great way to treat a CCTV camera!

Come on South Tyneside Council, let’s have a communal bonfire on the beach at South Shields next year!

  1. That you’d link to my stuff (and not for the first time) is to your credit. I’d expand on that point and the habit of some bloggers to withhold links for purely personal/political reasons, but it’d take us to a place that you don’t care for.

Maybe I’ll make a video about it instead.

    ;o)
