Prison, it’s no joke
Is Jack Straw having a laugh?
The justice minister has ordered the cancellation of a comedy workshop for prisoners at a top security jail.
The course, which started on Monday at Whitemoor Prison in Cambridgeshire, was supposed to run for eight days.
Jack Straw, Secretary of State for Justice, described the course as “totally unacceptable”.
This is all rather ironic coming from the man who brought us the equally unacceptable early release schemes earlier this year which resulted in thousands of crimes being committed from those supposedly enjoying their liberty.
That wasn’t much of a funny joke either Jack.
Instead of Labour borrowing £ billions to pay for temporary tax cuts, bail out the banks, and keep Gordon Brown’s ratings up, perhaps it would be a better idea to build a few more prisons, it would help stimulate the construction industry too.
Jack Straw makes a very poor straight guy in this comedy of errors.
