The guidance reminds officers that the public do not need a licence to take photographs in the street and the police have no power to stop people taking pictures of anything they like, including police officers.
About time too, and let’s hope that other forces around the UK take a lead from the Metropolitan Police and start to nail the misconception that a bloke with a camera in a public space must be either a terrorist or a paedophile – funny how few women get caught up in this huh?
