Who remembers Uncle Fester?
Illuminating idea.
According to this BBC report of proceedings at the Conservative Welsh Assembly meeting in Cardiff yesterday the party plans to give each household £20 worth of energy saving light bulbs if they win power in May’s election. Now that’s an idea that should be firmly pinned to David Cameron’s manifesto for the general election, the benefits will far outweigh the costs.
We have been using energy efficient light bulbs in this household for over twenty years, in fact we have been using the same light bulbs for over twenty years! How many people can say that? Our electricity bills are only slightly higher than they were twenty years ago and we are perfectly used to the shape, form, and light output of the bulbs.
For brightly lit areas we use a 23 watt bulb (which is the equivalent of a 100 watt filament lamp), for general lighting we use 11 watt bulbs (equivalent to 75 watts), and for task lighting we use 9 watt bulbs (equivalent to 60 watts.) Work it out for yourself, we are using less than a fifth of the energy of our neighbours, if we all did this the country would emit far less carbon into the atmosphere and massively reduce the demands on the generating stations.
…where is Uncle Fester????
Smiles and world peace,
Sharon
