The Conservative Summer Offensive

with one comment

David CameronJust when will it start?

Conservative Party Leader David Cameron will be returning from his French holiday to lead the party’s “summer offensive” against Gordon Brown’s government next week. In an “exclusive” Conservative Home reports that the NHS will be at the heart of Cameron’s fightback, perhaps to balance the deregulatory plans of John Redwood.

With Brown’s position in the polls strengthening, one has to question the effectiveness of the part-time Shadow Cabinet in taking the fight to Labour, William Hague was intended to be the star performer whilst Cameron was on holiday, can anyone remember which headlines he made? Perhaps Philip Webster and Tim Montgomery are right to suggest that the Conservative Party lacks the hunger for government that drove Blair, Brown, and Campbell when they were in Opposition.

If we do see a “summer offensive” I guess it will be short and sweet, rather like last week’s sunshine!
