Miliband’s photo-opportunity
Giving to charity
O.K. so it was a kind and welcome gesture to give £50 to the Mayor’s Charities after the contents of the collection box were thieved from South Shields Town Hall, but like the letter writer in the local paper I am somewhat surprised that David Miliband chose to allow others to make a photo opportunity out of it. He quickly becomes the target for those wishing to hurl the accusation “opportunistic cheapskate”, but there again after Gordon and Alistair had cobbled together a deal to bail out bungling bankers at the cost of £10000 per tax payer, I suppose even Cabinet ministers are feeling the pinch.
Would it not have been more noble to write a cheque and ask for anonymity?
