Obama to appoint Clinton as Secretary of State

Machiavellian move

President elect Barack Obama appears to have taken the Machiavellian advice that it’s best to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer still.

Shrewd tactic, Hilary has to give up her seat as New York Senator in order to become Secretary of State, and if things go wrong in years to come he can replace her at will, thus leaving her without any real platform after the end of the Obama Presidency (remember, US Presidents may only serve a maximum of two terms).

I don’t suppose he plans to keep Hilary quite as close as suggested in this video clip by the guys at Mad TV though!

Let’s call it “The Weekend Entertainment”

Thoughts from the other side of the pond will be most welcome

  1. This was a very clever move. If anyone could pose a direct internal threat to the Obama administration then it would be HC and the support she commands from the Democratic far left.

By giving her this position Obama has ensured that she resigns her Senate seat and is effectively under his control, with no other avenues to explore. Smart!

One wonders, however, how much respect she will command from the international community. Time will tell.

  2. This is Obama’s means of stamping his authority on the Democratic Party, and at a stroke reducing the potency of the Clinton power base.
