It must be summer

South Shields buzzing yesterday

It’s a sure sign that summer must be here now, a few days of warm sunshine, the Bents Park converted into a camp site for the Caravan and Campers Club, the sea front area, King Street, and the Market Place thronged with visitors, most car parks full, and a five minute thunderstorm to round off Saturday. I was visiting relatives when the rain came down heralded by a single flash of lightning and one almighty thunderclap, bouncing a good eighteen inches off the pavements and proving a good challenge for the drainage systems, but ten minutes later the streets were almost dry again.

Already this morning I’ve missed the Mayor’s Sunday Parade and the Buthcher’s Great North Dog Walk, sorry to disappoint those vane enough to want to see their pictures on these pages, but there will be other opportunities, I’ve been pursuing a far more interesting local story . Blogging may well be a bit lighter this week, there is much domestic upheaval here as I remodel the family home, the work is gathering at a quickening pace now, and I’m grateful to those helping here.

Right must get on and do the next episode of Hurry up Harry.
