A history made in sand

I’ve just spent the last eight and a half minutes watching this awesome YouTube video featuring the talents of an incredible young Ukrainian woman (a bit of a Lily Allen lookalike) as she depicts the moving history of her country on a table of sand. It is, on the one level, pure artistic genius, and on another level, a philosophical and political tour de force.

First spotted at Samizdata.

Here’s a thought, whilst Gordon Brown cannot express his opinion, or that of his government over a matter decided in Scotland, using that stuttering trap of his, a young girl can express the grief and pain of a whole nation simply using her head, her hands, and her fingers!
