Gordon Brown and the bailiffs

Brown ruins economy before closing door behind him

Call me cynical but I have always believed that part of Gordon Brown’s plan as Labour head for the out door was to ruin the British economy leaving nothing but scorched earth behind for David Cameron and the Conservatives to try and grow some new shoots of recovery in. These eye watering levels of debt will ensure that Cameron’s Conservative administration will be bogged down in an economic mess for quite some time, as tax receipts are barely enough to cover public spending and the servicing of the debt consumes precious ministerial time at the Treasury.

I have always though that Brown being an “old school” political operator cares nought for the problems of the common folk like us in South Shields, who will have to pay for his mountain of debt, but cares most about politics and making it as hard as possible for the “other lot” whilst trying to ease the tribulations of Labour’s next leader. Brown’s eternal hope is that the Conservative government quickly becomes very unpopular as it deals with the economic mess kindly left behind, and the the trades unions revert to their traditional role when faced with a Tory government, i.e. there may be some unrest, paving the way for Labour’s new leader to regain some traction for a party devastated and racked with self doubt after Brown’s disaster at the polls.

Mark my words, this is the way he has meant it to be.
