Reactions to Ball’s “bullying”

Social workers are amongst the many in public service who are becoming increasingly tired of ticking boxes as they chase more targets set by Brown’s government, they argue that their prime concerns need to centre around those who they are trying to protect, and reject Ed Balls’ assertion that social workers should not use record-keeping as an excuse for spending time away from the frontline.

Reactions to Balls’ “bullying” have have been swift and somewhat corrosive, amongst those to criticise is South Tyneside Labour councillor Jimmy Foreman who said:

“There was nothing in Balls’ speech to assist any of the children and young people’s directorates to move forward on this situation.”

The disenchantment with ministers appears to be spreading with alacrity, Brown and Balls appear to be unable to garner support from their local government representatives in even the most hardcore Labour areas.
