I think it’s great to report the successes of our young people from this area, there is often far too much negative reporting about our youth and we hear too little about those doing good works either for themselves or the wider community, success should be celebrated and held up like a candle!

Luca Franglen is an eight year old from South Tyneside and he attends Durham Chorister’s school, he was recently allowed time off from school to mingle with stars Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana at the London premiere of Avatar at The Odeon in Leicester Square.

Angelic voiced Luca (Luciano) sings on the soundtrack by James Horner. He played a particularly prominent part on track five on the sound track CD, a song titled: ‘Becoming One With The People” with Ney’tiri.

Before setting off for London with his proud parents, Luca said:

“It was very exciting to sing on the film and to see all the pictures I was singing along to.”

Luca has been at the Durham Chorister’s School since the age of five although he is not a member of the famous cathedral choir, he can expect to be the centre of attention when he returns to school next week.

Will there be a record deal, a signing session in King Street, South Shields, will he be singing at the Mayoral Christmas Carol service?
