Independent candidate stands in South Shields

Siamak Kaikavoosi throws his hat in the ring

There will be an independent candidate standing in the South Shields constituency at the 2010 general election, he is Mr. Siamak Kaikavoosi of Beach Road, I’m pretty darned sure he has no connections with the South Tyneside Independent Alliance and comes to the poll as a totally free agent. His leaflet hit my doormat today, and has already been added to the library.

I’m sure I recognise his face but cannot place him right now.

He joins

Karen Allen – Conservative

Shirley Ford – Green Party

Roger Nettleship – Stop the War

David Miliband – Labour

Steven Psallidas – Liberal Democrat

  3. It is a very interesting development. We know that he is standing down from South Tyneside Council, we also know that the Independent Alliance has previously announced on their website that they would not be fielding a candidate in the general election.

Yet Victor Thompson (yes, the very same very quiet Victor Thompson) has no official “description” against his name on the Statement of Nominated Persons.

    What can this mean?
Why has he decided to throw in his lot with the council?
Why does he wish to represent South Shields at Westminster?
What qualities does he think he would bring to the role of MP?

Perhaps I should email him and ask!

  4. Your very lucky I have had a window sticker from labour and a letter from Joan Meeks. I only knew who was standing as I had my Ballot paper today. Thought I would do a bit research on the Lib Dem guy and yours is the only link to his name. Might be back as I browse through the others !
