South Tyneside political leaflets wanted

with 2 comments

Can you help?

I’ve had this little project in mind for some time now, I’d like to be able to build a library of political leaflets from South Tyneside that people can reference easily online, all in one place, a sort of historical library for those with an urge to either reminisce or research. I’m interested in election material from any party or person who has or is seeking election within the borough, either at council level or parliamentary/European level. Age of the material is of no consequence, in fact some of the older stuff that you may have could be of great interest, and researchers could then look at the style, content, and delivery of the message and see how it has changed over the years.

If you have any that you are keeping and would like to share, can you either arrange to have both sides scanned and the results emailed to me as .jpgs (you can find my email address on the Contact page) or, if you don’t have access to a scanner then just email me and we can arrange to collect the material and return it to you.

The project is already under way and the first 25 publications are available here.

  1. I would dearly love to see the Indy’s leaflet with the Toy Story characters on it, but I guess Disney would then be after you as well.

  2. I could do with a new copy of that particular leaflet, the parts you were interested in were actually uploaded to Scribd but seem to have gone in the process! So if anyone can supply a new pristine version please?
