The Green Party were the only winners last night.

Caroline Lucas, the leader of The Green Party beat Labour by 1242 in Brighton Pavillion to become their first ever Member of Parliament, it was their major aim, their No. 1 goal.

Compare this result to that of all of the other parties and it is clear that The Greens are the only party that achieved what they set out to do!

  1. Hi Curly,
the biggest disappointment of the night was Ken Hickman losing his seat. He has been an exellent representative of the people and he will be sorely missed by his constituents and all of us sane people in the council chamber. I think that it was very sad that he was attacked in leaflets from the Alliance Party stating that he was unknown and did nothing for the ward. That was a terrible slur on a very honest man and the people whom attacked him haven’t lived in this town as long as Ken was a councillor and obviously know nothing about integrity.
I would like to extend my best wishes to Ken and his family for the future.
George Elsom (Real Independent Councillor) who knows am good man when he meets one.

    • I fully endorse those comments and sentiments George, my very words to Ken last night were “I know a good councillor when I see one”, he knows that his own plight hurts me too.

I can also see a little irony in putting this comment to this particular post, perhaps you are suggesting that the Independent Alliance also achieved what it set out to do in West Park?

  2. Curly, just in case you hadn’t noticed and just to show that every cloud has a silver lining, in the Council elections the BNP lost 26 out of their 45 seats. Rejoice!

    • Yes I had noticed, Barking and Dagenham being the best where they lost ALL 12 of their council seats and gormless Griffin admitted that they’d been wiped out. Trouble is they are all rather fanatical, so we cannot be complacent about their extreme national socialist racist intentions.
