Half-wits and gobshites!

South Tyneside Independent Alliance councillor offends those more “worthy”

Half-wits and gobshites eh?

Well, yes, there are a number of us around – half seem to have been elected to public office, and the other half write about them!

It does tickle me however to see an opposition councillor being accused of “pontificating” and being “unworthy”……….by a drink driver.

As I asked back then:

Are they all whiter than white?

Are they as pure as the driven snow?

Are they not as human as the next man?

QED Cllr. McAtominey.

  1. Regrettably the use of abusive, insulting, even defamatory, generalisations seems to be par for the course for a minority of Councillors.EP, also the subject of some allegedly insulting locally based comments, intends to abolish The Standards Board, but surely there should be some form of well managed quasi regulatory body to deal with non criminal or non tortious misdemeanours allegedly committed by Councillors in the course of their public duties

  2. Would Labour New Boy care to tell me what EP means? Whilst he may know exactly who he is talking about,it is a bit presumptuous to assume that everybody who is likely to read what he has written can interpret.

    • Eric Pickles, Minister in new coalition government with responsibility for local govt; sorry thought everyone interested in politics knew this larger than life character.

  3. An opposition councillor labelled certain people who attended a South Tyneside community meeting as “half-wits and gob****es”
You can get into trouble if you tell the truth!!!
Coun Hodgson added “All it does is hand out grants, not all of which are justified” – If you use the the foi act wisely and keep a check on the ST website you can gain an insight into just how much our the tax and rate payers hard earned cash is wasted on unaccountable grants and hand outs.
As Coun Hodgson points out “but some (grants) are handed over to organisations that don’t do any of their own fundraising” This cost us hundreds of thousands of pounds. There is less accountability now that most funding is administered by BT South Tyneside. Now there’s a con in its own right.
Note that the council web site at this point in time is not displaying any of the pages relating Hebburn Community Area Forum, I just wanted to see who “half-wits and gob****es” were.

  4. Attend and participate in CAFs; I do.Lets respect and rationally analyse and discuss, with less foulmouthed, defamatory or near defamatory discourse, which does this area of the UK no favours

  5. Not sure what Steve G is on about. Large grants – such as those to organisations like the Citizens Advice Bureau, who raise a lot of their own funds – are agreed by the Council and I am not aware of BT having anything to do with them.
My local residents group receives a small grant from the CAF but we raise money with coffee mornings and table top sales. As far as I know we get the cheque from the Council not BT.

    • I suggest that you look at this article from the Gazette ;

“A successful strategic partnership with BT would see about 450 of the council’s 7,000 employees transferred to BT under TUPE Plus arrangements, protecting their conditions of service.

These workers would be drawn from IT, human resources, procurement and financial services.”

If your charity applies directly to the council for funding the application goes through BT South Tyneside – though the council provides the cash. BT South Tyneside agree targets with the charity but after that their involvement appears to end, hence my opinion that there is little accountability.

By partnering BT the council has, effectively, all but admitted that it could not run some departments efficiently, and has contracted out to the private sector.

Everyone one in South Tyneside should appreciate that some council services are now provided by BT South Tyneside.

  8. Curly remember the fuss the indies made over a private email of paul waggotts that was leaked in which he said the lunatics are taking over? Waggott apologised immediately, hodgson is saying nowt. the indies also forced a vote of confidence in waggott and didn’t turn up, another waste of money from them.

When will labour demand Hodgsons resignation.
