Merry Christmas to all

with 9 comments

I may not be back for a while.

Just as I was about to make a post regarding Cameron, Clegg, Miliband and the Eurozone debt crisis my desktop PC suffered a crisis of its own. Some sort of hardware issue is preventing Windows from booting, so I’m competing for time and space with the kids on this laptop, at this time of year it is near impossible to get them off it.

Needless to say, until I have the problem diagnosed and fixed there will be no chance of updates either here or at South Shields Daily Pictures, hopefully the delay will be as short as possible. Luckily things are relatively quiet on the local political scene as councillors and Town Hall staff in South Tyneside look forwards to the festive holidays, so it only remains for me to wish my readers a peaceful joyous and Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2012.

Whilst I’m here shall we say congratulations to South Shields girls Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall of “Little Mix” who have seen their first single reach No. 1 in the charts, something which Joe McElderry did not achieve until after the Christmas period in 2010.

See you all soon.

  1. Interesting how a right wing, gung ho, free market lovin, free enterprise wheeling, dealing, state intervention hating politico blames “Labour” for the fact that there is practically nowhere suitable for him to Xmas shop in ST. The floor is open let’s have your 10 point costed plan for regenerating the retail trade in ST from 2012 to 2015…

  2. What’s happened to this guy? Has there been a sudden rush of blood to the parts that normally only Heiniken can reach? I have read Curly’s post about 23 times and can find no reference to King Street, shopping, blame for failure of shopping in South Tyneside or any other of the issues raised in the above comment. There’s a good possibility that the guy might just burst a blood vessel so get him to calm down Curly.

  3. The clue is in “Twit ter Watch”; this is not a challenge to “Curly”…Inspector Morse would have solved it; perhaps “virtual reality” politician, a term coined by another blogger on this site will help.

    • Presumably that has reassured you as regards the state of my “blood vessels” Mr M; your occasional adversary seems to be behaving himself twitteringly at the moment. As long as he keeps tweeting about UXB up 7.3 and BEY ONCE down a few cents, we can all rest easy and ukip peacefully in our beds, such weighty matters being of vital importance to the New Year prospects of ST and the local economy.

  7. g’day curly, hope you had a merry christmas…

my brothers comp had the same trouble as yours a couple of nights ago, what i did was disconnect the harddrives and then reconnected them, do the same thing with connections to the mother board as well, and then restart the comp, sometimes thats all you need to do, but this time it didn’t work for us, so i then unplugged all the usb connections, restarted the comp, and turned it off again, reconnected the usb connections ie: mouse, keyboard etc, and restarted the compo again, this time the windows booted, it then reinstalled the usb drivers, so im guessing the problem was something to with the usb peripharals, that could be your problem too, when i mess around inside the comp, i rub hands all over the metal chassis first this discharges static electricity and makes it safe to move in closer to the motherboard etc..

anyway, give a try if you haven’t got it going yet, have a happy new year mate..

    • Just ran fxboot in the recovery console Phil, rewrote the master boot record and she was up and running again, much quicker than I feared. Thanks for your good wishes, hope 2012 brings fresh opportunities “down under”.
