About

A little about Curly and his Corner Shop.

I was born in 1956 and was married in 1988, we have a son born in 1997, and a daughter born in 2001. I have lived the whole of my life in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, and was educated at South Shields Grammar and Technical School for Boys as well as Sunderland Polytechnic. I was a member of the Conservative Party for many years and was Chairman of South Shields Young Conservatives as well as being active in the Federation of Conservative Students at Sunderland and Durham.I was also a member of the independent South Shields Progressive Association, and was elected as a member of South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council in the 1980’s. I have not been an active member of any party for the last twenty years but retain views which are slightly right of centre.

By profession I have been a retailer for 30 years, lately with one of the world’s largest retail companies and have worked in most major towns from Edinburgh down to Grimsby.

My favourite football team is Sunderland AFC who I have followed since 1964.

This blog relates to news, politics, and sporting events and how they affect my life and thinking in the North-East of England. In the event that I am unable to migrate my previous blog posts to this WordPress site, please use the links to see older material.
