Milibar kid backs Brown

David MilibandMiliband rejects leadership bid

Some journalists just don’t seem to get the message do they?

After the South Shields MP and Foreign Secretary published an article in the Guardian in July outlining his thoughts about Labour’s future, the Westminster Village in crowd had been speculating that the Harry Potter lookalike on a gap year was positioning himself for a leadership bid. Yet they seem to have learned nothing at all about the psyche in the Brown bunker, as numerous Labour MPs have found out in the last couple of days, anyone dreaming of inspiring a leadership election is promptly removed from whatever posts they hold! This is because Gordon Brown is the best man for the job, the only Labour politician with the knowledge, experience, and sheer determination and courage to get the job done, the only man capable of seeing Britain through the tough times ahead.

Yes, yes, I know you’ve heard it all before, and that the vast majority of the public are no longer listening to the monocular son of the manse, but it’s true, besides the political mantra is spun out for the benefit of the party faithful, not for the rest of us (we don’t feature in his thoughts at this stressing time.)

Gordon Brown and his cohorts are asserting his position and authority over the party, and it is clear he is not a man to be crossed, so I confidently expect that their will be no full blooded assault on Brown’s position by the Milibar Kid or any other Cabinet minister until after David Cameron and the Conservatives are putting their feet up inside No. 10. Well, if not a single Labour MP had the guts and courage to challenge him for the leadership when “Bambi” Blair resigned, then why should we presume that they will find the courage to challenge the unelected PM now?

Aside from that consideration, who in the Labour Party really, really, wants to lead them to an ignominious defeat at the next election?

  2. Yes, it is difficult to know whether the reason no challenge had been forthcoming is because of political cowardice or foresight! Either way, it makes no difference, they are all living on borrowed time.
